Trash consumption in the United States is at an all time high, and it is only getting worse. Americans currently generate on average more than 4.5 pounds of trash a day. On top of that, the United States has no economical or efficient way to handle recycling, meaning many items that could be recycled before are no longer recyclable in our current system. While many of us try and recycle bottles, cans, boxes and other items from our homes, a surprising and saddening amount of these amounts can not be recycled. From mixed materials to contamination, recycling serves as a concerning, sometimes unknown challenge to people. This game provides an everyday example of the struggle of cleaning up properly, and the simple mistakes we make that can harm the system as a whole.
